We have posted an article about a new cannabinoid known as THCP. This new cannabinoid is believed to be more potent than THC. The Italian researchers who discovered THCP discovered a new cannabinoid as well similar to CBD called CBDP. The structure of THCP and CBDP are very similar to THC and CBD. CBDP has also a seven links molecular structure and researchers are studying this new cannabinoid to understand its effects and how it binds with our CB1 and CB2 receptors.

This study added to new cannabinoids to a list of over 150 identified cannabinoids. As they have been recently discovered, we still don’t know that much about their medical properties.

What is Cannabidiphorol?

Mostly all-natural occurring cannabinoids have a five-link molecular structure. However, both THCP and CBDP have seven links molecular structure. This makes them unique cannabinoids. The Italian scientist that discovered both cannabinoids, believe this unique chemical structure have a lot of beneficial medical properties. Nonetheless, currently we don’t know that much about CBDP and its ability to bind with the CB1 and CB2 receptors.

Cannabidiphorol has many potential uses. For instance, it is believed it has a key role in determining the specific entourage effect derived from a particular cannabis strain. Moreover, it might also be important in how a cannabis strain interacts with each individual. This would explain why individuals experience different effects with the same cannabis strain.

Both THCP and CBDP have analgesic and relaxant properties. In addition, the same as CBD, CDBP has a great potential to be used as a treatment for neurological disorders such as epilepsy. As a matter of fact, CBD is already used in the treatment of epilepsy ( Epidiolex is an FDA approved drug for the treatment of two rare forms of child epilepsy).

However, the scientific community is more interested in THCP than CBDP. This is because they already know that CBD binds poorly with CB1 and CB2 receptors and they don’t expect that a longer molecular structure will bind better with our endocannabinoid receptors than CBD.

Is CBDP Legal?

CBDP is legal the same way as CBD is. Under federal law, only THC is illegal. Under the 2018 farm bill, hemp is legal as long as it contains less than 0.3% of THC.

Both CBD and CBDP have great potential medical properties. Nonetheless, we still don’t know that much about this cannabinoid (it was discovered in 2019) but scientists believe it has important potential properties.

Are There Any Cannabis Strain High in CBDP?

There are not cannabis varieties rich in Cannabidiphorol, but it is a matter of time that someone starts producing cannabis strains rich in this “new” cannabinoid. Cultivating cannabis strains rich in this cannabinoid will facilitate the extraction of CBDP in the form of isolates or cannabis oils.

At this moment, Cannabidiphorol is difficult to find. As a matter of fact, you will not find that many websites offering CBDP products. There are many reasons why, mainly, because it has similar effects as CBD. Moreover, CBD products are already quite expensive and CBDP would probably be even more expensive than CBD.

As Cannabidiphorol was first isolated in 2019, there are still very few cannabis extraction companies offering it. For instance, just a few research labs have it.

CBDP: Bottom Line

We still need to know more about THCP and CBDP. According to researchers, THCP has more potential uses than CBDP. However, studies on CBDP and its medical properties will be ongoing.

It is possible that we will know more about CBDP and its therapeutic qualities and future research can prove new CBDP applications.
