A Guide to Cannabis Concentrates: What is Badder/Batter or Budder?
Badder/Batter is one of the consistencies for cannabis concentrates. Unlike shatters, badder or batter is malleable, and its look and consistency vary depending on the method used for its extraction. Cannabis budder is one of the easiest consistencies of cannabis concentrate to dab.
What are cannabis concentrates?
Cannabis concentrates are a kind of cannabis concentrate that is produced by using a solvent such as butane, propane, alcohol, or supercritical CO2 to extract the desired components (cannabinoids, terpenes).
The most useful cannabis compounds are the trichomes, which are small structures with higher concentrations of cannabinoids than other parts of the cannabis plant. A cannabis concentrate refers to any product created by the accumulation of the trichomes from the cannabis plant.
Because they are higher in cannabinoids than other cannabis products, cannabis concentrates, and extracts are more potent and richer in terpenes. They also offer a wider range of consumption methods.
How is Cannabis Badder made?
As we mentioned above, cannabis badder or budder is extracted with solvents such as butane or propane. The use of solvents in the extraction methods carry some risks. Solvents must be used in special laboratories with good safety conditions, mainly because chemicals can explode.
Furthermore, there is a reason why many cannabis users prefer non-solvent extraction methods. The main reason is that solvent based methods may contaminate the final product. In other words, it is possible that residual solvent is found in the cannabis hash oil. Therefore, it is important to buy concentrates that have been certified and analyzed. Concentrates such as cannabis badder, if properly extracted, are safe to consume.
Propane hash oil comes in different consistencies, but it mainly has a soft solid consistency. Cannabis badder is usually vaporized using a dab rig, a process known as “ dabbing “.
Badder is oilier and softer in texture compared to other cannabis concentrates. The preferred consumption method is using a dab rig or e-nails, but some cannabis users they also spread it on joints.
How to Use Cannabis Badder?
As previously mentioned, there are two main methods: dabbing and joints. The first method is by far the most effective and popular way to use your cannabis budder.
Dabbing is a method that consists of heating a nail (could be made of glass, ceramic, metal) and then the user applies the concentrate directly onto the hot nail (surface). As mentioned in previous blog posts, the nail could be heated with a torch (traditional dab rigs) or with an electronic device such as e-nails. The latter ones are safer as you won’t need a torch to heat the cannabis badder. In addition, e-nails allow you to control the temperature.
As other cannabis concentrates, cannabis badder or budder is much higher in cannabinoids. Therefore, they are not entirely suitable for cannabis newbies.
If you are not an experience cannabis user, start with small doses and then you can gradually increase the dose when you have more THC tolerance. Concentrates have a rapid onset, which means that you’ll feel the effects very quickly.
